Reuben Margolin :: The Wave

This is an incredible piece...just watch the video. It is a plane made up of wooden rods, linked at their ends into a grid. The grid is then made to move in a 3D wave by a system of cams and cables. Its motion is simply astounding.

I'm going to go see it later this week...I'll try to write some more about it after I've seen it in person.

ArtBots: The Robot Talent Show

Sorry for the short notice, but I have been extra busy lately. The call for submissions deadline for Artbots 2005 is April 1. It's in Ireland this year from July 15th to the 17th.

ArtBots is an international art exhibition for robotic art and art-making robots. Each year we publish an open call for submissions, inviting artists from around the world to send us information about their work. No firm rules exist on the types of work that can participate; if you think it's a robot and you think it's art, we encourage you to submit. The final list of participants is a mix of works selected from the open call submissions and additional artists invited by the ArtBots curators.

RoboGames

Did I mention that RoboGames were coming up in a couple weeks?

Did I mention that I have entered a piece in the artbots category?

Did I mention that they even had an "artbots" category?

Did I mention that I'll be there taking pictures and having fun and that you should go too, and that 20+ countries will be represented there, and that there's going to be several hundred robots there, and that it takes place on the campus of San Francisco State University the last weekend in March, 2005?
