ArtBots: The Robot Talent Show

The third annual ArtBots: The Robot Talent Show, an international art exhibition for robotic art and art-making robots, will take place September 17-19, 2004 in Harlem, New York City. Twenty works created by 43 artists have been selected for the show.

Here's the Wired blurb from last year.

Best testimonial ever - "I think this robot [cat] is a lot cooler than Fred, my cat," said 9-year-old Hannah Nevin of Brooklyn. "Fred only hisses and throws up on the rug." Good to know, Hannah!

SUNDAY! SUNDAY!! SUNDAY!!!

We came...we saw...we did pretty darned good.

The father-son team of Tom Palmer and your KineticWorld fearless leader, CTP, won all but our final race in the modified class of the 2004 Power Tool Drag Races. Had we been connected to our competitor's 440 Volt power supply we might have stood a chance. As it is we took second - pretty good for a first time. I'd post a picture of our trophy but I left it at work.

Lots of pix are available at QBOX.org. Of course there are no pix of us...ah well...next year we'll make it spit blood and we'll get some attention maybe. Did I bother to take any pix of it...hell no, I was driving the damned thing to victory!

Anyway - I do promise to get some pix together soon, and make them accessable thru this very site...no, really, I promise. To appease you all, here is a picture of the craft before all of the killer graphics were applied.

POWER TOOL DRAG RACES!!!

We kept this under wraps, but this weekend KineticWorld.com will be racing in the power tool drags. I hope to upload some photos of the days events Saturday night if I'm still alive.

We will be racing in the modified category...a worm drive circular saw based craft named ROADRASH after all of the scarring it sustained when someone lost it on the freeway...seriously, the thing has major scrapage.

Anyway, this whole shindig is supposed to end up with 4 hours of airtime on Discovery Channel this winter...so look for us!

If you can make it, come on down...it's gonna be a wild time!!!
