Genetic algorithms have often been applied to computer graphics to achieve spectacular effects such as Electric Sheep, designed by Scott Draves, featuring animated graphics that grow and mutate over time.
Eduardo Kac goes one step further, bringing genetic manipulation directly into his art. Currently being shown at the Exploratorium is Move 36 which features a plant spliced with custom genes with the phrase "Cogito ergo sum", translated as "I think therefore I am". Phillip K. Dick would be proud. Posted at 1:48 PM by Anonymous | |
